Our top window treatment trends for 2021

A new year means new trends… even in the window furnishing world!

Last year, many of us spent a large portion of the year, working or staying safe in our own homes, so 2021 might be the perfect time to refresh your space with a new look and feel.

If you are planning on refreshing the interiors of your home this year, be sure to follow these trends to keep your home stylish and modern.

Natural Fabrics

Window treatments made from natural textures and fabric are one of the most in-demand products right now and as each year passes, it is increasingly evident that natural fabrics, earthy tones and sustainable materials will continue to be high on the ‘on-trends list’. They continue to feature heavily in interior design magazines and home renovation shows.

Wooden shutters and Venetian blinds, linen curtains and bamboo roman blinds are a few furnishing options that you can install to incorporate natural textures or fabrics within your home.

Pop of colour

If you didn’t already know, at the end of each year Pantone (an enterprise that provides a universal language of colour) announces their colour of the year. Usually, they only announce one colour, but this year they have revealed two independent colours – Ultimate Grey and Illuminating (a yellow hue), which were brought together to show consumers how different colours can complement and work well with each other.

Choosing a window furnishing that is bold or bright can be a nervous investment. Especially for those that do not have a lot of experience in furnishing with bright colour, but by doing so, can greatly improve your space. A simple pop of colour can dramatically change the look and feel and help revitalise your home.

Roller blinds and curtains, have one of the largest colour selections in the window treatment industry, which gives the opportunity to showcase complimenting pops of colour.

With so many different options to choose from, why not venture out of your comfort zone and experiment with some colour this new year.

Bold prints

Along with pops of colour, bold prints and patterns have been making a powerful impact on window furnishing options. Boldly printed blinds are proving popular in children’s bedrooms and are a fun way to use bold prints and create a feature within the room.

However, this is a tricky trend to master. Ensure your home is well balanced between different furnishings, colours and textures by using bold prints in a single piece, rather than several. If your preference is neutral window furnishings, you can incorporate bold prints and patterns in other furnishing pieces such as cushions, rugs, wallpaper or couch covers.
 Natural tones

As mentioned before, natural textures and fabrics are in high demand, in conjunction so are natural tones.

Most natural tones are neutral and work well with other colour tones so you can incorporate a few on-trend furnishings at once. A credit to this trend is Pantone’s 2021 colours of the year as mentioned above. Ultimate Grey is described as the colour of pebbles on the beach and natural elements. Alongside Illuminating, a bright and cheerful shade of yellow. The natural tones alongside the pop of colour reinforce this trend.

We’re excited to see the different ways in which these trends are incorporated into window furnishing installations throughout the year. Be sure to share your latest projects with us so we can feature them.
